Uniview 5MP HDCVI IR Camera Review
Uniview’s 5mp ahd camera is great for those looking to upgrade from an older analog CCTV system. This camera supports intelligent events like pixel-based motion detection and ultra-motion detection.
This model comes in both bullet and turret form factors. It uses the same connections as traditional analog CCTV cameras so installers can use RG59 coax cable up to 800 feet with video baluns for long distances.
Features
With a powerful Sony Starvis sensor and high definition image resolution, this 5MP HDCVI IR security camera is sure to provide crystal clear images. It leverages existing 5mp ahd camera coax infrastructure to deliver forensic-level imagery and features a 2.8 mm fixed lens and multi-language On Screen Display. It also comes equipped with Smart IR technology to automatically adjust light output and reduce glare for balanced night vision.
The 720p standard HD resolution of this camera allows for better detail when monitoring a vehicle, and is much superior to CVBS cameras. It works with any standard RCA coax cable, and video baluns are available to allow you to use CAT5 cables if preferred. There is an installer-friendly pushbutton on the cable harness to switch between OSD video mode (camera default) and remote UTC menu control.
The camera is designed to be hard-wired to a Digital Video Recorder, or DVR, that will digitize and record the analog video signals into an NTSC digital format for playback on TV screens or mobile devices. A cable junction box can be used to neatly conceal the cable leads and provide a more professional installation. This camera is weather-resistant and can be installed indoors or outdoors. Its IP67 rating keeps it protected from dust and humidity, and a mount design allows it to be wall or ceiling mounted.
Connections
This 5mp ahd camera supports both AHD and HDCVI as well as standard analog / CVBS modes so it can be used with existing security systems. It has a physical switch controller that lets you select the mode to match your system based on the instructions provided with the picture stick.
BNC video connectors are on the camera that you use to connect to a DVR recorder for recording your surveillance footage or to a TV monitor for live viewing. You can also connect audio to the cameras using built in microphones and Audio-Over-Coax (AOC).
These AHD cameras use coax cable with BNC video connectors to transfer video and they work the same way traditional analog CCTV cameras do. They can be run up to 1600 feet without signal loss using RG59 Siamese coaxial cable or pre-made BNC security camera wire. For longer distances you may want to look into a video balun that allows you to use solid copper CAT5e cabling instead.
AHD is an analog CCTV video surveillance system that transfers video and audio over the same coax cable that your current alarm system uses for communication. A digital video recorder, or DVR, converts the analog video signals to digital and records them to a hard drive. It can be used as a stand alone system or with the addition of an IP camera and DVR it can have all the features of a complete integrated security solution.
Audio
The 5MP version of the camera is Uniview’s first foray into the analog security camera market. This series is built to be a quality product, and it shows in the construction of both the bullet (UAC-B125-AF28M-W) and turret (UAC-T125-AF28M-W) housing models. They feel heavy and solid, with the metal casing providing a great aesthetic. They are also much more affordable than the high-end IP cameras we carry, and can be used as an upgrade for existing coaxial systems without requiring additional cables and splitters.
The next major difference is the audio hardware that is included with each camera. The 12MP fisheye model includes a speaker and three microphones that work together to provide high-quality, omnidirectional audio. The 5MP model, however, uses only a microphone and doesn’t support two-way audio.
Both cameras have connection pigtails that contain an RJ45 Ethernet, power, alarm in, and alarm out connections. They are compatible with RG59 Siamese cable for installation, which you can find more information about in our RG59 cable installation guide here. They also include a white light illuminator that can be switched on and off as needed to illuminate dark scenes.
Intelligent Events
This security camera has advanced motion detection features to alert you to important events on your property. It is equipped with Person Detection that security camera supplier uses AI to only trigger when it sees people or cars and not leaves, bugs, etc. This helps reduce false alarms. It can also send you an instant push notification when it senses activity on your property, keeping you updated in real-time about what’s happening.
It can be accessed remotely through its free mobile app or PC and Mac software for added convenience. It supports a wide range of cameras and video recorders to give you maximum flexibility. You can easily switch between viewing modes like fisheye, panoramic, and PTZ to view what you want, when you want it.
With the 3.6mm lens, this security camera provides a wide 84deg view paired with 5MP resolution for amazing image quality. It is able to deliver clear and detailed images even when there are varying lighting conditions thanks to its True WDR feature. Its IR LEDs can be used to capture images up to 165ft in complete darkness.
Its IP67 weatherproof rating and built-in 2KV surge protection provide the necessary safeguards against the elements to ensure a long service life. It also has a MicroSD slot that can hold up to 256GB of edge storage for backups in case of an incident.
